Vancouver Whitecaps News Release

Vancouver Whitecaps men (7-3-2) look to keep pace with USL First Division leaders Charleston Battery when they re-visit the struggling Rochester Rhinos (2-5-5) on Saturday evening.

Teitur Thordarson's men will be in buoyant mood when they travel again to Upstate New York after a claiming a famous 1-0 away victory over Major League Soccer club Toronto FC in the Nutrilite Canadian Championship on Canada Day. Martin Nash's first-half penalty kept the Whitecaps alive in the three-club tournament - which also includes competition leaders and USL-1 rivals Montreal Impact - while handing TFC their first defeat at their BMO Field home this season. The result also ended Vancouver's winless run at four games in both league and Canadian Championship contests, with the streak having started in their last visit to Rochester on June 13.
