
Caps battle the Toronto Lynx this Saturday

Fresh off the heels of a successful home opener which included a sell-out crowd of 5,722 cheering the Whitecaps to a 1-0 win over Portland, the Whitecaps look to go 2-0 as they host their Canadian rivals the Toronto Lynx this Saturday, 7:00 p.m. at Swangard. The 2006 edition of the Toronto Lynx is a mixture of youth and returning veterans. Among the new additions are 2005 Canadian University Player of the Year, Ryan Anstey, former Whitecap Gordon Chin and a number of players from the Canadian Professional Soccer League including premier strikers Matthew Palleschi and Jeremy Shepherd. The Lynx line-up also includes former Canadian international defender Tony Menezes as well as veteran keeper Theo Zagar.
Make sure to arrive early to catch the Whitecaps Street Carnival, which includes concourse performers and Gary Comeau & the Voodoo All Stars rocking on stage. Also, Bosnia, Ireland, Italy and England will be this week's communities competing in the Penalty Kick World Cup at the half.
