Vancouver Whitecaps News Release
VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC alumni will be part of a celebrity team assembled to play in a mixed exhibition match with the Vancouver Dream Catchers homeless soccer team on Friday June 27, 2008. The match is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. kick-off at Vancouver's Empire Bowl - across from Playland at the PNE Vancouver.
The match will consist of two 30-minute halves and will be preceded by a Whitecaps men's team training session from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The match will be played in soccer festival format, meaning the players of each team will be mixed together and will function as a tune-up for the Dream Catchers, as they prepare for September's nationals in Calgary.
Vancouver Whitecaps/86ers alumni participating include Canada men's national team head coach Dale Mitchell and the three Lenarduzzi brothers: Dan, Bob, Sam. In addition, Whitecaps men's head coach Teitur Thordarson and assistant coach Todd Wawrousek are also confirmed.
