Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release
In the Inaugural Season for the Acadiana Cane Cutters, Lafayette will get to host the first round of playoffs for the Texas Collegiate League.ÃÂ Though TCL is a relatively new league begun in 2004, some of the teams have earned national recognition. This includes this year's East Texas Pumpjacks and the Coppell Copperheads, ranking 11th and 30th in Perfect Game USA's most recent ranking.
ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ As two of the top 35 summer league baseball teams in the country, these rankings confirm the increasing quality of play in the league. Both of these teams have clinched their spots in the league playoffs. Head Coach Lonny Landry stated, "We are very excited to have our first season under our belts and have been able to achieve playoff status. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring home a championship to Acadiana."
ÃÂ
The Cane Cutters have secured their spot in the playoffs by taking second place in the first half of the season, making them the number two seed. They will be up against the Coppell Copperheads, currently ranked second in the league overall. The first round of playoffs will be a best two out of three beginning this Friday. The Cane Cutters and Copperheads will also face off Saturday, and again on Sunday if necessary. All games will be at Fabacher Field starting at 7:00 pm. Fans continue to be surprised that the stadium is comfortable at 7 pm. Duhon's Fun Jumps will have a waterslide fun jump set up at all playoff games to keep kids cool.
ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ ÃÂ Tickets for the playoffs are $8 per game for general admission, while box seats will be sold for $15 per game.
