Cane Cutters lose game one of their two game series against the Woodlands Strykers 7-4

Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release


The Strykers opened up the scoring early putting up 3 runs in the first inning. The Cane Cutters got one back in the bottom of the second after a sacrifice fly by Trey Hicks (Texas State). Woodlands put 2 more on the board in the top of the 3rd to extend their lead to 5-1. The scoring continued in the top of the fifth as the Strykers bumped their lead to 7-1. Acadiana got runs in the 5th, 7th, and 9th and the game ended 7-4.

The Cane Cutters were led on offense by shortstop Trent Giambrone (Jones County CC) who was 2-3 with 2 walks, an RBI, and a run scored. Kennon Menard (Southeastern) had a solid day at the plate as he went 1-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Jake Brumfield (Pearl River JC) started the game for the Cane Cutters throwing 4.1 innings while giving up 4 earned runs. Colten Lee (Pearl River JC) came out of the bullpen in the 5th innings and threw 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball. Nick Johnson (Southern Miss) threw 1 inning in relief and was able to strand a runner at third. Scott Szush (Southeastern) made his first appearance of the year for the Cane Cutters throwing 2 innings.

For the Strykers, Kevin Sanchez had a good day at the plate going 2-5 with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Spence Rahm was also 2-5 including 2 runs scored.

Cullen Cosco picked up the win for the Strykers while Braxton Markle got the save. The Strykers are now 3-5. Jake Brumfield was the losing pitcher and Acadiana Cane Cutters are now 5-4.

The Cane Cutters will finish their series against the Woodlands Strykers on Sunday, June 7th at Fabacher Field. It is a Duhon's Fun Jump Slippery Sunday.
