Cane Cutters Hang on to Win in Extra Innings

Lafayette, La. - The Acadiana Cane Cutters go into extra innings in Baton Rouge and come out victorious for the fifth game in a row against their fellow Louisiana competitor in the Texas Collegiate League. The Cane Cutters got down early in the game trailing by 4 runs throughout the first 3 innings. Acadiana was able to tie the game at 4 all in the top of the eighth inning before putting away the Rougarou in the top of the eleventh by scoring 3 runs. The final score of the game was 7-5 with the Acadiana Cane Cutters coming out on top of the Baton Rouge Rougarou yet again.

Acadiana added a newcomer to the squad today in Jerrett McDonald (LSUE) who did not disappoint in his Cane Cutters debut against the Baton Rouge Rougarou. McDonald exited the night with a stellar batting average of .500, 2 hits, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI. Carson Jones (ULM) scored a team high 2 runs, hit a double, and had a stolen base on the night. Ethan Lege (Delgado) keeps racking up the stats this year by adding 2 hits, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI to help his Cane Cutters to victory tonight.

The Cane Cutters were able to get it done on the mound tonight inching out a win over the Rougarou. Logan Miracle (Nicholls State) pitched for 4.2 innings and recorded 4 strikeouts on the night. Reed Vincent (Belhaven) came in again to face the Rougarou for the second night in a row and left with an ERA of 1.80, 1 strikeout, and no hits allowed after 1.1 innings. Nick McAuliffe (UNO) pitched a total of 2 innings with 4 strikeouts, no hits allowed, and a 2.77 ERA. Jay Ward (UTSA) also pitched for 2 innings and was able to record 4 strikeouts as well. Ward exited the night with an ERA of 2.20 and was awarded the win.

The Cane Cutters will face the Rougarou again tomorrow night at home at Fabacher Field. Acadiana has been hot in Baton Rouge the past two nights, and they will look to carry over this momentum into a three game home stand.

The Acadiana Cane Cutters will play their next game at home on July 1st against the Baton Rouge Rougarou. All home games will begin at 7:00 pm and will be broadcast live on TCL TV.
