Cane Cutters Fall to the Sod Squad at Home

Lafayette, La. - The Acadiana Cane Cutters were able to keep it close throughout most of the game, but they ultimately lost to Amarillo 7-4. The Cane Cutters are still in the hunt for the 3rd seed in the TCL playoffs, and will look to lock up the 3rd seed with a win in tomorrow's final regular season game of the year. Acadiana will face off against Amarillo at Fabacher Field to conclude their 2-game series and the 2021 regular season.
The Cane Cutters had a total of 13 strikeouts on the night with Beau Hebert (Louisiana College) getting 7 of those strikeouts in 6 innings. Andrew Cossio (Northwestern State) pitched 2 innings and had a total of 4 strikeouts against the Sod Squad. Jacob Lamkin finished off the game with 2 strikeouts in 1 inning and left the game with an ERA of 1.42. Acadiana will look to get things going again on the mound in tomorrow night's rematch against the Sod Squad.
Acadiana had 4 runs on 7 hits in tonight's game against Amarillo. Jack Schell (Lamar University) had yet another productive night getting 2 hits, 1 double, and 1 run for the Cane Cutters. Ethan Lege (Delgado) continues to add to the stats sheet in tonight's game with 1 hit for 1 run. Cole McConnell (Louisiana Tech) had 1 hit for a double and 2 RBIs. Will Veillion (UL) and Nathan Carriere (Lamar University) each had a stolen base on the night. Veillion also had 1 hit and 1 run scored.
The Cane Cutters will face off against the Sod Squad again tomorrow at Fabacher Field for Fan Appreciation Night. Acadiana is still trying to lock down the number 3 seed in the playoffs, so be sure to come out and support your Cane Cutters on their road to a TCL Championship.
