VICTORIA, Tx. - The Acadiana Cane Cutters fell 5-3 to the Victoria Generals at Riverside Stadium in the first game of the road series.

The Cane Cutters took the lead in the second inning on an RBI single by Preston Faulkner (SE Louisiana) that scored Nathan Gabryszwski (Lamar University). Chandler Morris (Texas A&M) was walked to begin the fourth and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Storme Cooper (University of Southern Mississippi). Gabryszwski scored run number three off another RBI single from Faulkner.

The Cane Cutters were not able to bring in any more runs but did manage to produce good defense. Starting second baseman Mason Corbett (Texas A&M) was responsible for an unassisted double play in the bottom of the third. The Generals had a runner on second as the batter lined out directly to Corbett allowing for a force play. The Cane Cutters also turned a 6-4-3 double play in the fifth and caught a runner stealing at third in the sixth.

Sean Tweedy (University of Southern Mississippi) took over on the hill in the fifth inning to finish off the game. He struck out four batters and only allowed one run.

The Cutters will be back at Fabacher Field again Monday (7/30) against the Brazos Valley Bombers. Gates open at 6 PM and first pitch is at 7 PM for all home games. To get weekly updates on the team and other fun theme nights coming up, please visit our website and subscribe to our newsletter.
