Your Acadiana Cane Cutters split a two game road trip with the East Texas Pumpjacks after a dominant 12-5 win.

Their record improves to 13-8 before they head home to face the Brazos Valley Bombers. The Pumpjacks fall to 7-10.

The Cane Cutters were impressive at the plate that carried a strong pitching performance from the starter Daniel Martinez (University of New Orleans). Martinez pitched 6 innings with 6 strikeouts while allowing 2 runs. He is now 4-0 to start the season.

The Cane Cutters started their scoring route as the leadoff batter Kyle Knauth (Nicholls State), 2-5 in the game with a home run and 3 runs scored, reached on an error by the shortstop. The Pumpjacks would then go on to commit 4 more error's throughout the rest of the game.

After Knauth would reach Adam Yacek (Miami of Ohio) doubled to drive in the ?rst run of the game. Next up was Alex Tucker (Nicholls State), the catcher, who would single to move Adam Yacek to third. The Cane Cutters would have no outs with runners on ?rst and third. Next Braedon Barrett (Northwestern State) would walk to load the bases. Next up was Zak Kutsulis who would single to push the score to 2-0. 2 more runs would come across to score in the inning as the bases would remain loaded.

The third inning was not a good inning for the Pumpjacks. They would continue to add to their errors after the leadoff batter of the inning Connor Short (University of Alabama) would reach on a walk. Next up was Knauth who would single. Yacek would then reach 3rd after numerous errors from the Pumpjacks, which would also lead to Short and Knauth scoring to make it 6-0.

The Cane Cutters would go on to tack on another run in the 4th and 6th inning.

Matinez would let up 2 runs in the 5th and would continue for another inning before reliever Alec Sanchez would come in. ! ! The leadoff batter in the top of the 8th was Zak Kutsulis (Notre Dame) who would then reach on a Pumpjacks error. He would then steal a base. James Ziegler (Chandler Gilbert Community College), 2-3 with a run scored, would then single with 2 outs to score Kutsulis to make the score 9-2. Knauth would then step in and hit a 3 run homerun to push the score to 12-2.

The Pumpjacks would not go down without a ?ght. After they loaded the bases they were able to score 3 more runs to make the score 12-5.

Austin Millet (Southern Miss) would then come in to pitch as the Pumpjacks would push across one more run to make the game 12-6.

We are back home tomorrow with Thirsty Thurs $1 beer, playing the #1 place Brazos Valley Bombers, and playing them Fri as well, with fireworks to follow. Sat is Bobblehead night, with Fabulous Cajun Chicken, in costume on the park, showing off his antics. Sunday is Dog Days of Summer, bring your friendly leashed dog to the park day. St. Martin parish Animal Shelter will be on site with adoptable pets. K9 demo, interactive dog events.
