
Cane Cutters Dominate in Victoria

Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release
Lafayette, La. - The Acadiana Cane Cutters win their second game in Victoria, Texas against the Generals 9-3 bringing their record to 14-11 and keeping hold of second place in the TCL. The Cane Cutters got it done both on the mound and at the plate with 7 different Cane Cutters scoring a run and out hitting the Generals 10 to 5 on the night. Acadiana will get a couple days off before hitting the road yet again to travel to San Antonio to play the Flying Chanclas on Wednesday. Acadiana looks to keep building off of these road victories as the long stretch of away games continues.
The Cane Cutters were able to dominate offensively tonight by scoring 9 runs on 10 hits tonight versus the Generals. Jack Schell (Lamar University) continues to be a weapon for the Cane Cutters scoring 2 runs and recording 2 stolen bases in tonight's game. Peyton Puckett (Northwest CC) was also able to score 2 runs for the Cutters along with an RBI as well. Will Veillion (UL Lafayette) recorded a team high 3 RBIs tonight and 1 run earned. Matt Abshire (Panola College) had a team high 3 hits and was also able to add a run to the scoreboard for Acadiana. The Cane Cutters hope to carry over this tremendous offensive effort into the next series of road games.
Acadiana kept the pitching changes at a minimum tonight, as they were able to hold the Generals to only 3 runs scored on the night. Mathew Adams (Southern Miss) and Reed Vincent (Belhaven) each pitched for 4 innings in tonight's matchup. Adams had a whopping 10 strikeouts tonight and Vincent gave up no runs and left the game with an ERA of 1.15. Andrew Cossio (Northwestern State) closed out tonight's game pitching 1 inning with 2 strikeouts and no hits allowed.
The Cane Cutters will get a short break for a couple of days before returning to Texas on Wednesday to face the Flying Chanclas in a 2-game series in San Antonio. Acadiana will immediately follow up with another road trip to Amarillo to play the Sod Squad on Friday and Saturday.
The Acadiana Cane Cutters will play again at home at Fabacher Field on July 20th against the Victoria Generals. All home games will begin at 7:00 pm and will be broadcast live on TCL TV.
