Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release
The Cane Cutters bounced back from last night's loss with a 5-1 victory over the Woodlands Strykers at home on military night.
Both teams started slow, but the Strykers scored the first run of the game, and their last run of the game, in the 4th inning.
The Cane Cutters responded with a run of their own. That run sparked the team's offense for the rest of the night.
Acadiana was able to put up four more runs within the next four innings before closing things out with a strong defensive effort at the top of the ninth.
Cane Cutters pitcher Wilmer Nunez, of Ranger College, was awarded the win on the night after allowing just one run and three hits on his six innings pitched. In his 16 innings pitched so far this summer, Nunez has posted an overall 1.12 ERA.
Acadiana totaled seven hits on the night on 30 at bat. Matthew Guidry, out of Southern Mississippi, led the team with two hits on his three at bats.
The Cane Cutters resume play tomorrow on Father's day as the team will attempt to sweep the Strykers before beginning a four-game road stretch.
