Cane Cutters, Acadiana Mall Partner in Holding National Anthem Tryouts

The Acadiana Cane Cutters of the Texas Collegiate summer baseball league have announced today that they will be holding a "Who's Got The Right Pitch" National Anthem tryout event along with the Acadiana Mall and Lafayette Coca-Cola on May 10. The event will take place near the main entrance of the Acadiana Mall. Registration will take place from 11AM to 1PM and the contestants will start to perform at 1PM.
Area musicians are encouraged to participate. Contestants are allowed to sing and/or play an instrument. Groups of up to four people are allowed to participate at one time. This contest is open to contestants ages 8 and over. People 8-17 wanting to perform must come with a parent or guardian to sign a waiver.
"Acadiana Mall is excited to partner with Acadiana Cane Cutters and Lafayette Coca-Cola on this first time event," said Acadiana Mall marketing specialist Jamie Stelly. "It's a great opportunity to showcase local talent and kickoff the summer baseball season."
The top five musicians will be announced that day. The Cane Cutters are hoping to fill several National Anthem slots that they have available during their 2014 season through this event.
"This area has such a rich and special musical heritage," said Cane Cutters GM Bill Levy. "It is only natural, as Acadiana's hometown team, that we give a platform to some of the musicians in the area. We really want to spread the word, and the Acadiana Mall helped make it possible by holding tryouts in such a highly visible facility as they have."

The Cane Cutters will open their fourth season on Thursday, May 29th when they host the Brazos Valley Bombers at Fabacher Field in what will be the first part of an "Opening Weekend." Last year, the bombers went 49-15 in capturing the mythical National Championship and #1 ranking in all of summer collegiate baseball by Perfect Game.
