Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities and the Toronto Rock Partner
March 10, 2014 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Toronto Rock News Release
TORONTO, ON - The Toronto Rock are pleased to announce Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities as the official partner of the 2014 Toronto Rock charity game on Sunday, March 30th at 3:00pm when the Rock host the Edmonton Rush at Air Canada Centre. As the official charity game beneficiary, Jumpstart will distribute all funds raised to help financially disadvantaged kids ages four to 18 participate in local lacrosse programs.
This support will give Toronto-area children the chance to develop the confidence, social skills and discipline that comes through participation in organized sport. The Toronto Rock and Jumpstart also recognize the importance of promoting participation in Canada's fast-paced national game.
"We are very excited to be partnering with the Toronto Rock this spring to help even more kids participate in organized sport," said Johnny Misley, President, Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities. "Since 2005, Jumpstart has helped over 700,000 kids across Canada experience the benefits of physical activity by helping families cover the costs of equipment, registration and transportation. Investing in the great sport of lacrosse is one more way we can get kids involved, developing their self-confidence and leadership to create a pathway to a better future."
"The Toronto Rock are looking forward to working together with Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities," said Rock Owner and President Jamie Dawick. "Our fans have pulled together to raise over $135,000 at our previous four charity games and we are excited about what we know will be another successful event."
Funds will be raised through various avenues including Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment donating one dollar for every ticket sold directly back to Canadian Tire Jumpstart. Proceeds from that evening's 50/50 draw will also go to Jumpstart.
Following the game, the Rock will hold a live game-worn jersey auction on the floor. The bidding will be fast and furious, as the game-worn jerseys from that night's game will be auctioned off. Making this even more unique is the fact that the game worn jerseys being auctioned will be the home white version of their original jersey worn by the team in 1999 and 2000. This follows the success of last year's road blue original 1999/2000 era jerseys being auctioned off. Giving kids the chance to participate in organized sport is a passion also shared by PartSource, a proud supporter of both Jumpstart and the Toronto Rock. To help Jumpstart and the Toronto Rock sell out the game, PartSource will offer tickets at stores in the GTA at a discounted rate of $25 for Lower Bowl tickets and $10 for Upper Bowl tickets.
