Canadian Premier League Season Start Date & Format Announced

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Premier League today announced the 2022 CPL Season Opening Weekend presented by WestJet and season format to kick off their fourth season.
York United FC gets the 2022 season started with its first match of the season on April 7th vs HFX Wanderers FC at York Lions Stadium at 7:30pm ET. The 2022 Season Opening Weekend closes out with the much-anticipated 2021 Final re-match against 2021 Champions, Pacific FC vs Forge FC on Sunday April 10 at Starlight Stadium at 7:00pm ET.
2022 CPL Season Opening Matches:
April 7 York United vs HFX Wanderers 7:30pm ET
April 9 Atletico Ottawa vs Cavalry FC 3:00pm ET
April 10 FC Edmonton vs Valour FC 4:00pm ET
April 10 Pacific FC vs Forge FC 7:00pm ET
2022 Season Format
A single table, balanced schedule format will be used in 2022 resulting in a total of 112 regular season matches. Each club will play each other club 4 times (2 home and 2 away) resulting in 14 home matches in each market.
The top four clubs in the table will move on to a two-legged semi-final (4 vs 1 / 1 vs 4) and (3 vs 2 / 2 vs 3) with the winners on aggregate progressing to the one-match 2022 Final hosted by the highest seed
The League will release the full 2022 Schedule Presented by WestJet on Thursday, February 3 at 2:00pm ET.
