Calgary Roughnecks Win the NLL Cup

Philadelphia - The Calgary Roughnecks defeated the Buffalo Bandits 14-13 in overtime of Game 2 of the NLL Finals presented by Michelob Ultra and hoisted the NLL Cup in front of 17,038 fans in the Scotiabank Saddledome. The Roughnecks captured their first championship in 10 years, with tonight's win marking the third in organization history. The Calgary Roughnecks previously won in 2004 and 2009.

In a back and forth affair for the majority of the first half, the Roughnecks pulled ahead late in the second quarter to enter halftime with a 9-6 lead. Three straight Bandit goals from Chase Fraser, Jordan Durston and Matt Spanger evened the score 9-9 with three minutes and thirty-four seconds remaining in the third quarter. Trading scores the remainder of the game, Dane Dobbie and Cory Small each scored with under one-minute remaining in the fourth quarter as the game headed to overtime. One minute and twelve seconds into overtime, Rhys Duch fired the game winning goal as the Roughnecks took the NLL Finals Game 2 and hoisted the NLL Cup.

Focus will now turn toward the League's next major event, the 2019 Expansion Draft. Slated for early July, the Rochester Knighthawks and New York Riptide will make picks comprised of unprotected players from the other 11 teams. More details will be released shortly.
