Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA (December 2, 2013) - The Philadelphia Soul and the Arena Football League announce the assignment of quarterback Bryan Randall (6'2, 220, Virginia Tech) to the defending back-to-back American Conference Champions roster for the 2014 season.
"Bryan is a tremendous talent and we are excited to bring him to Philadelphia," said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. "It's a long 18-game season and if you have the ability to bring in an experienced player - especially at the quarterback position - you jump at the opportunity."
Randall last played in the AFL in 2012, completing 175-of-278 passes for 2,142 yards and 39 touchdowns with nine interceptions as a rookie with the Pittsburgh Power. The second-year pro also set the Pittsburgh franchise record for passing yards in a single-game with 387.
Virginia Tech's career leader in passing yards (6,508) and yards of total offense (8,034), Randall also set a Big East Conference record with 504 yards against Syracuse as a sophomore in 2002. After starting 13 games as a junior in 2003, Randall guided the Hokies to their first Atlantic Coast Conference Championship and a berth in the 2005 Sugar Bowl as a senior.
After going undrafted in the 2005 NFL Draft, Randall signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent. He also spent time with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers, before coming to the Power in 2012.
