Austin Bruins News Release
MINOT, ND - The Bruins scored three power play goals, while putting together a staunch defensive effort as they won game two of the Central Division semifinals in Minot on Saturday night, tying the series at one.
Jade Miller set the tone early, scoring a power play tally just 1:27 in off a nifty drop pass from Gilbert Gabor. Jacob Paganelli also assisted. Miller's goal was the only one of the first period for either team.
In the 2nd, the Bruins made it 2-0 at 4:39 when Austin Rueschhoff wristed a shot from the slot past Minotauros goaltender Gunner Rivers, assisted by Paganelli and Marcus Karlstrom. It was another power play goal. Paganelli then got his own at 14:06, taking a cross-crease feed from Miller. Gabor picked up his second assist and the Bruins led 3-0 after two periods.
The defense took over, holding the 'Tauros at bay until three minutes remaining when Grayson Gavin capitalized on a Karlstrom turnover and made it 3-1 with the goaltender pulled. Jared Brandt hit a cross bar but Minot never got much closer and Evan Cholak capped the game with an empty netter at 19:50.
Kris Carlson stopped 29 of 30 in the win, while Rivers went 24 for 27. Games 3 and 4 will take place at Riverside Arena next weekend - both games at 7:05.
