
Brewers Name Player Development Staff For 2010

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers today named the Club's Player Development staff for the 2010 season.
At Triple-A Nashville, Manager Don Money and coach Sandy Guerrero will both return for their second season with the Sounds. Joining them on the coaching staff is pitching coach Rich Gale, who has served as pitching coach for Class-A Hagerstown (2009) in the Nationals organization and held the same role with Triple-A Albuquerque (2007-08) and Double-A Carolina (2006) in Florida's farm system. In addition, he has experience as a pitching coach at the Major League level with the Boston Red Sox from 1992-93. A former fifth round selection of the Kansas City Royals in 1975, Gale spent seven seasons as a pitcher in the Major Leagues with Kansas City (1978-81), San Francisco (1982), Cincinnati (1983) and Boston (1984). He owns a career record as a Major League pitcher of 55-56 with a 4.54 ERA in 195 games, including 144 starts.
David Yeager joins the Sounds as athletic trainer after spending the past five seasons in the same role with Double-A Huntsville. He was recognized as the 2007 Southern League Trainer of the Year in voting by his peers. Andrew Emmick also joins Nashville's staff from Huntsville as strength and conditioning specialist.
Mike Guerrero will manage the Huntsville Stars in 2010 after spending the previous two seasons as manager at Class-A Brevard County in the Brewers organization, where he led the Manatees to a 145-120 record. New to the staff is coach Al LeBoeuf, who spent last season as hitting coach with Class-A Dunedin in the Blue Jays organization. He has 15 years of minor league coaching experience with Philadelphia (1989-92; 1999-2000), New York-NL (2001-05), Kansas City (2006) and Toronto (2007-09). He also managed in the Phillies farm system from 1993-98. The former first basemen played in the Phillies organization from 1981-88. Athletic trainer Aaron Hoback joins the Huntsville staff after spending a season with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2009. Pitching coach John Curtis also will return to the Stars for his second season.
At Class-A Brevard County, Bob Miscik will serve as manager after joining the organization in 2009 as Huntsville's manager. Another new addition to the Manatees coaching staff is coach Dwayne Hosey. He played 13 professional seasons as an outfielder, including parts of two seasons with the Boston Red Sox (1995-96). Hosey served as hitting coach for Cedar Rapids (Angels) in 2001 before making a comeback with the independent Bridgeport Bluefish in 2002. Pitching coach Fred Dabney (sixth season), athletic trainer Tommy Craig (fourth season) and strength and conditioning specialist Chris Gavranic (second season) will all return to Brevard County.
The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers will once again be managed by Jeff Isom. Pitching coach Chris Hook, coach Matt Erickson and strength and conditioning coach Jake Marx will also return. The lone addition to the staff is athletic trainer Jeff Paxson, who has spent the past five seasons in the same role with Triple-A Nashville and has worked in the Brewers organization since 1994.
The Helena Brewers will be managed by Joe Ayrault, who has managed in the Reds organization at Class-A Sarasota for the past three seasons (2007-09). Prior to that, Ayrault served as Sarasota's hitting coach in 2006 and handled the same duties for the Rookie GCL Reds from 2004-05. He also spent three seasons in the Rangers organization, where he served as a coach with the Rookie GCL Rangers (2001), Class-A Savannah (2002) and Class-A Stockton (2003). The former catcher spent his entire playing career in the Braves organization from 1990-97. He made his only Major League appearances in 1996 and made the postseason roster. Pitching coach Elvin Nina, coach Ned Yost IV and athletic trainer Jimmy Gentry will each return for their second season with the team. Strength and conditioning coach Sean McCourt will begin his first season with Helena.
In Arizona, Tony Diggs returns for his third season as manager of the Rookie Arizona Brewers. Also returning is pitching coach Steve Cline, coach Kenny Dominguez and athletic trainer Anthony Sandersen. Cline enters his 15th season in the Brewers organization and 30th season overall as a minor league pitching coach, while Dominguez and Sandersen are both entering their second season with the Arizona Brewers.
The Dominican Summer League Brewers will begin their inaugural season as a Brewers farm team in 2010. They will be managed by Nestor Corredor, who played in the Brewers organization from 2004-08. He spent his first four seasons as a catcher before changing positions to pitcher in 2008. Pitching coach Jose Nunez will join the staff from the Arizona Brewers, where he spent the past two seasons. Coaches Jose Pena and Luis De Los Santos will also join the coaching staff of the DSL Brewers.
In other moves, the Brewers have added Reggie Williams as roving outfield and baserunning coordinator and Darnell Coles as hitting coordinator. Williams played professionally from 1982-91, including four seasons in the Major Leagues with Los Angeles-NL (1985-87) and Cleveland (1988). Meanwhile, Coles most recently served as hitting coach at Triple-A Syracuse (2009) in the Nationals minor league system. He spent two seasons managing in the Nationals organization with Class-A Hagerstown (2008) and Class-A Vermont (2007). He also spent the 2006 season as Washington's roving hitting instructor. He enjoyed a 14-year playing career with Seattle (1983-85, 1988-90), Detroit (1986-87, 1990), Pittsburgh (1988), San Francisco (1991), Cincinnati (2002), Toronto (1993-94), St. Louis (1995) and Colorado (1997). He was a member of the 1993 World Series Champion Blue Jays.
Meanwhile, Charlie Greene (Field Coordinator and Catching Instructor), Lee Tunnell (Pitching Coordinator) and Garth Iorg (Roving Infield Instructor) all return in their current positions.
The Brewers have also named Ross Sapp as a Major League scout. A veteran of 25 years in professional scouting, Sapp joins the Brewers after working as a Major League scout with Cincinnati (2002-08) and Texas (1999-2001). He also worked with the Reds as an area scout and regional cross checker from 1997-98. He began his scouting career as a part-time scout with Philadelphia (1983-84) before joining Houston as an area scout (1985-91) and West Coast Supervisor (1991-92). His additional experiences include his role as National Scouting Supervisor with San Diego (1993-94) and as an area scout with Los Angeles-NL (1995-97). Sapp spent five seasons playing in the Chicago White Sox organization (1968-72) as a pitcher and outfielder.
