Brakettes announce 2007 changes

January 11, 2007 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
Connecticut Brakettes News Release

The Connecticut Brakettes will not field a team in the National Pro Fastpitch league in the upcoming 2007 season. The amateur Brakettes, the most celebrated franchise in women's softball history, which just last summer captured their fourth national title in five years, and 27th overall, will continue to field an ASA Women's Major Fastpitch team. The Brakettes will still look to play against the top amateur and pro talent in the US, as well as top international teams. The team hopes to defend its national title at the ASA Women's Major Fastpitch national tournament, August 9-12, in South Bend, Indiana, and will also compete in the ASA 23 + Under national tournament in Stratford, Connecticut, at the end of July.

The Brakettes also announced that they are creating youth teams to begin play in 2008. The age-group squads will be elite-level travel teams, and will compete against the best youth talent in the Northeast and country.

In another venture envisioned to promote the Brakettes' name and further the sport as a whole, the team will expand its existing clinic business to include satellite camps, in conjunction with various local youth leagues. The Brakettes' players and staff will conduct sessions focusing on beginning and advanced pitching, hitting, fielding, and basic softball skills at a location near you.

Any Connecticut Brakettes season ticket holders who have bought 2007 tickets are eligible for full refunds. For any questions about ticket refunds or clinics, please call (203) 983-3350, ext. 304.

We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion, and we hope to see you at DeLuca Field this summer! Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

The Brakettes' Management
