Bowdy Makes It Known That The Fresh Are Contenders While Adding 5 To The Veteran Roster
September 7, 2009 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
North Texas Fresh may be a first year expansion team, but the Owner and Coaching staff is continuing to bring in players to make a run for the championship.
"I didn't bring this franchise to my hometown to be the best expansion team," stated Owner/CEO Jay Bowdy. "I'm in it to win it all and that's what everyone here is focused on doing as well; bringing North Texas the ABA Championship!"
Those words have been put to work with the commitment of some highly talented players that have the experienced backgrounds to bring home the ABA Trophy. Moreover, the Fresh decided to bring in five more athletes to fight for a chance to be on the active roster. Those athletes are Gerald Osborn, Jeremy Oakes, Jonathan Young, Alan Brockington, and Fort Worth Trimble Tech's David Peoples. Coaches Charles Hill, Aaron Evans, and Lisa Bowdy implemented the necessary drills and schemes in place to find the athletes needed to make the Fresh a more productive team.
"I couldn't be pleased with the talent that we have coming in," stated Hill. "It makes our job easier when you know you have guys that can defend well and put up points in bunches."
The Fresh have announced that they will take a look at a few more guys in a closed tryout in hopes of seeing if there may be more available talent in or out of the Lone Star State right before the start of Veterans Camp. "We have what it takes to win a championship right now," stated Bowdy. "Opportunities are real slim these days when it comes to having a chance to be a part of a basketball franchise. Everyone deserves that opportunity, but they must act upon it."
North Texas Fresh will take part in their first game of the season against the West Texas Whirlwind in Midland, TX. Moreover, Bowdy has made it known through the video documentary with Erik Clapp and Immotion Studios that the Fresh will possibly lose only one or two games. "Some people call it bold, but I only can speak on what I know we have," stated Bowdy. "I refuse to lose and my coaches and other staff members refuse to lose as well. I guarantee our fans will be pleased with how we do this season and I am one that loves to prove doubters wrong."
