Boston's Gary Bining named Player of the Week

Published on February 11, 2009 under National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release

Boston's Gary Bining was named Overall Player and Rookie of the Week. Bining scored four goals -- three in the fourth quarter -- including the game-tying score with 9.5 seconds remaining in regulation. He added one assist and seven loose balls to help the Blazers secure a thrilling 9-8 victory over the New York Titans on Saturday. The 5'8", 155-pound left-hander was originally drafted in 2006, but did not crack an NLL roster until this season.

Calgary's Tracey Kelusky was named Offensive Player of the Week. The 33-year-old right-hander scored four goals and five assists in Calgary's 13-8 win over Minnesota on Friday.

Teammate Pat Campbell was named Defensive Player of the Week. Campbell allowed just eight goals and made 38 saves against the Swarm. The Roughnecks improved to 5-0 with the win.

Toronto's Chris Driscoll was named Transition Player of the Week. Driscoll scored two goals and one assist, and scooped 11 loose balls in Toronto's 16-9 win over Edmonton on Saturday.

The Weekly Player Awards are determined by a vote of the General Managers and Head Coaches of the league's 12 teams.
