Brookings Blizzard News Release
The Brookings Blizzard have beaten Minot 4-2 Saturday night at the Larson Ice Center to complete a weekend sweep and run their record against Minot to 5-1-1. Evan Hesse gave the Blizzard a 1-0 lead with five minutes to play in the first period. Drew Brevig handcuffed Minot goaltender Ryan Ruck with a slap shot from the point and Hesse knocked in the rebound. Minot took advantage of a late power play and tied the game with two seconds left in the period. Thomas Williams scored his 24th of the year seven minutes into the second period, but Minot tied it back up late to set up another thrilling third period. Nick DeCenzo gave the Blizzard the lead off a blast from the top of the left circle five minutes into the third. After a frantic final few minutes Hesse found the empty net to seal the victory. Drew Weigman picked up his 17th win of the season and Brookings remains one point behind Bismarck for second place in the Central Division. Brookings travels to Minot Wednesday for a 7:05 start.
