
Blizzard Look Strong in 8-2 Victory

The Brookings Blizzard exploded for a 8-2 victory Friday night at the Larson Ice Center in their first exhibition game of the 2013-2014 season.
Eight different players scored forBrookingsincluding seven newcomers playing in their first game for the Blizzard.
John Nitchen started things off for the Blizzard at the 4:15 mark of the first period, assisted by Beau Michaud. Seven minutes later the Blizzard took a 3-0 lead with two goals in a 27 second span. Scoring for the Blizzard was Jack Stang and Brandon Halls.
In ths second period, Brookings scored on the power play 4:30 minutes into the second period with a beautiful goal by Aaron Ryback, assisted by Michaud and Joe Nathe.
Eric Hallin scored three mintues later off another assist from Nathe to put the Blizzard up 5-0.
Alexandria got on the board 6 mintues later on a pretty goal by Garrett Skinner.
The Blizzard took a 5-1 lead into the second intermission.
After the break, Alexandria scored midway throught the third period on a goal from Trent Olson, assisted by Tre Kautsman.
Dominic Nitti, Nick Balavich, and Joe Anderson closed out the scoring for Brookings, who came away with a 8-2 victory.
The Blizzard are back in action next Friday night at the Larson Ice Center in their second exhibition game against the Aberdeen Wings. Puck drops at 7:15pm.
