Brookings Blizzard News Release
The Brookings Blizzard came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Bismarck Bobcats 4-3 on Veterans Day.
On an unusual weekday game, the Blizzard battled the elements and traveled to Bismarck on Tuesday evening for the fifth game straight game against the Bobcats.
Matt Perry scored the first of two power play goals for the Bobcats to give Bismarck a 1-0 in the first period. Jake Tomkowiak scored at the 5:23 mark of the second period off the assist from Perry and the Bobcats had a 2-0 lead.
The Blizzard got on the board later in the second period when Oscar Odd scored off an assist from newcomer Colton Schmidt and Eddie Eades. The Blizzard went into the second intermission down 2-1 and had been out shot 28-20 in the first two periods.
4:56 into the third period, Tyler Frischmon tied the game 2-2 when he scored for the Blizzard. Jimmy Morgan was credited with the assist.
Just over a minute later, Schmidt would get one himself to give the Blizzard the 3-2 lead. Zach Glienke and Connor Spetz had the assists on the goal.
However, the Bobcats would not go away. Evan Giesler would get Bismarck's second power play goal of the game and the score was again tied late in the third period.
With 3:31 left to play in the game, Blizzard defenseman Joe Nathe would score the game-winning goal off the assist from Glienke.
With the 4-3 victory, the Blizzard are now just one point behind Bismarck in the central division standings.
Eric Hancock recorded the win in net for the Blizzard, stopping 39 of 42 shots on goal.
The Blizzard will host the 10-9 Aberdeen Wings this Friday night at the Larson Ice Center at 7:15pm. It is the only scheduled game for the Blizzard this weekend.
