Mudcats Star Derrick White a Quarterbacks Nightmare

The Mississippi Mudcats defense is lead by # 44 Derrick White, a 6 foot 3-inch 240lbs Linebacker from the University of Georgia. Derrick is a native of Union City, Georgia located just outside of Atlanta. For three seasons he starred at UGA posting over 270 career tackles, later becoming a collegiate All American. Now a Mudcat Derrick has impacted Mississippi on and off the field in a major way. The Mudcats have been involved heavily in the community and Derrick has embraced this responsibility as a professional athlete with open arms. More notably on the field opponents must know were Derrick is at all times, as his pass rush ability allows him to single handedly change a game. Derrick has been a constant spark for the Mudcats defense, while after only 6 games he has posted an amazing league leading 52 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 1 Int, and 2 forced fumbles. "The thing that stands out about Derrick is his quickness, his first step off the ball is second to none. He is truly a dream to work with" said (Kirk Broussard- Mudcat Linebackers Coach). This past week it was back to business as usual for Derrick as he led the Mudcat defensive unit with 9 tackles and 1 sack while coming off an amazing performance holding Florence, SC Phantoms to only 14 points. In a 62-14 victory.
