MOBILE, AL- The Birmingham Barons beat the BayBears 7-5 Saturday, losing their fourth game within the five game series. The season opening homestand at Hank Aaron Stadium finished with four wins and six losses. The BayBears had a 5-4 lead in the top of the ninth inning until the Barons scored three times, on a triple by Jason Bourgeois, and an RBI single by Chris Kelly.
Osbek Castillo made his first appearance with the BayBears, throwing three innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on four hits. Castillo struck out three and walked one. The BayBears five runs all came in the fifth inning, on a Javier Brito three-run home run, a Mark Reynolds RBI double and an error by Birmingham's Robert Valido.
Josh Ford and Jon Zeringue had two hits each for Mobile. Clint Goocher (0-1) took the loss for, allowing the three runs in the ninth inning.
