
Big Sky Thunder Try-out a Success

The Big Sky Thunder of the National Indoor Football League are pleased to announce that the team has signed seven Letter-of-Intents from the December tryouts. The seven consist of six rookies and one veteran of the National Indoor Football League.
Big Sky Thunders Owner/Director of Player Personnel Eric D. Sellars states, "We were really pleased with the local talent level that we saw at our recent tryout. We've signed seven outstanding players from the tryouts and we're really exciting about what these guys can bring to our team. We're already looking forward to the next round of tryouts in January and hope to discover some more talent there."
The seven players include 5'10, 190lbs Quarterback Justin Mckenzie, attended University of Redlands and Southwestern College in San Diego. Justin has been playing in the German Football League and the National Football League Italy for the last three years, he also signed with the Wyoming Cavalry of the National Indoor Football League in 2003, Wide Receiver/Defensive Back Eddie Sullivan, 6'0, 200lbs, who is an outstanding receiver out of Montana State University, Wide Receiver/Defensive Back Kade Ames 5'11, 185lbs, from of Dickinson State, Linebacker Spencer Steiner, 6'2, 230lbs, played Semi-Pro Football for the Helena Titans, also attending Montana State University, Kicker Bryan Hilborn, 5'8, 200lbs, from Carroll College, who still holds the Most Single Game Field Goals (6), Wide Receiver Andrew Schade, 6'2, 210lbs, and Running Back/Linebacker Jeremy Ewan, 6'1, 220lbs, also played Semi-Pro Football for the Helena Titans.
"We are really happy to sign Quarterback Justin Mckenzie, this kid runs a 4:4 forty, has great arm strength, great vision and is able to get out of the pocket if he needs to, he will be a great additive to our team."
Not that the pay in the NIFL is great. Players receive $200 per game, plus bonuses and some expenses. The total package does not exceed $20,000 per season. It's not the money the players are playing for, it's the experience of playing professional football and playing in front of thousands of people and hoping to get a shot at the next level.
