This playing surface has hosted an uncountable amount of major leaguers as they played in the California League on their way to the show. On this grass Barry Zito pitched his first professional game as a Visalia Oak versus the San Jose Giants. Atlanta Brave's pitcher Russ Ortiz developed his skills on this same playing surface as a San Jose Giant during the 1996 season and other greats such as Gary Sheffield, Pedro Martinez and Jason Giambi to only name a few visited Municipal Stadium during their time in the California League.

2) 2004 SEASON SCHEDULE RELEASED AND AVAILABLE AT SJGIANTS.COM

The San Jose Giants released their 2004 season schedule to the media on Friday, November 14th. The 70 game, 2004 home schedule is once again highlighted by the annual fireworks extravaganzas on July 2nd and 3rd. The Giants will also host five mid-week day games with 12:45 pm starts and features 11 weekend series. Also highlighted are a special Mothers Day matinee along with 2:00 P.M. day games on Memorial Day and Labor Day. The Giants home opener is Friday, April 16th at 7:00 pm versus the Visalia Oaks.
