Vero Beach, Fla. - Eleven Vero Beach Dodgers and the Dodgers radio announcer will be up for bids starting July 22 through Aug. 1. Along with 12 local restaurants, the Vero Beach Dodgers are introducing "Dine with a Dodger" this summer as a way to raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Indian River County.

Beginning July 22, the Dodgers will have a table set up in the stadium with forms for fans to bid on a player and restaurant of their choice. At each table a sheet of paper will reflect a minimum bid along with each fan's name and bid so others can see what their bidding against; bidders will also be required to fill out an information card so that the Dodgers can contact the highest bidder. Bidders must be 18 years old or older.

Bids will be accepted at the Dodgers' home games on July 22, 24, 27, 31 and Aug. 1, all of which will begin at 7 p.m. The highest bidder will be announced during the seventh inning stretch of the Aug. 1 game against the Daytona Cubs.

The winners will receive a certificate to a local restaurant along with a player to take along with them. The certificates are designed to cover the costs for two people at each restaurant.
