Bellingham Slam News Release
BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Bellingham Slam all-star center Blake Poole has returned to Germany to play professionally this winter, the team announced today.
Poole is once again suiting up for the club BG Dorsten, the same team he competed with during the 2011-12 season in Germany's ProB league.
Poole enjoyed a fine 2012 season in Bellingham, averaging 18.8 points and 13.4 rebounds per game on the year and helping lead the Slam to the International Basketball League Championship in July. The 6-foot-6 Saint Martin's University product posted across-the-board increases in his statistics from his rookie season with the Slam in 2011, with his rebounding numbers this season ranking first in the league.
Dubbed a "double-double magnet" by a German sports writer, Poole averaged 14.9 points and 12.9 rebounds per game for BG Dorsten in his first stint with the team last winter. He was twice named as the ProB league's Player of the Week and earned the league's Player of the Month honor last November.
Poole had originally inked a contract with the club BG Leitershofen last spring, but was unable to report to the team after he sustained a foot injury while competing at the Southern California Summer Pro League with the IBL All-Stars in July.
Poole arrived in Germany last week and has already appeared in one game with his new team, scoring 18 points and grabbing 22 rebounds for Dorsten in a 106-95 win over Hannover.
