Bees Add Blue-liner, Top Five Scorer

HIDALGO, TEXAS --- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) today announced the signings of defenseman Anthony Sarno and forward Jared Silver for the 2007-08 Fifth Anniversary Season.

Sarno, 21, was a teammate of Killer Bees goaltender and player/assistant coach David Lemanowicz at Elmira last season. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound Springfield, Mass., native also played eight games in Belgium for the HYC Herentals where he collected 17 points (10-7-17).

Silver, 23, is a Montreal native who played Div. II college hockey at St. Michael's in Colchester, Vermont. The 5-foot-8, 165-pounder finished fifth in Northeast-10 scoring as a senior last season, posting 28 points (15-13-28) in 22 games. He also captained the team. As a junior, he became the first Purple Knight to be named Northeast-10 conference Player of the Year.

The Killer Bees have announced 18 player signings. The team, which begins preseason training on Monday, October 8, expects to have 23 players in camp.

The Fifth Anniversary Season home opener is set for Friday, October 19, vs. the Corpus Christi Rayz at 7:30 p.m. The team will also play a preseason game against the Rayz on Monday, October 15, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to all games are on sale now.

Every Friday and Saturday Bees game will be broadcast on KURV 710 AM TalkRadio, with most weekday games on ESPN Radio 1240 AM. Every Saturday home game will be televised on XERV-9 (Cable 19). Call 956-843-PUCK (7825) for ticket and sponsorship information.
