Beef Return to Post Season for Seventh Year in a Row

July 13, 2006 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release

Omaha, NE - The Omaha Beef (8-7) defeated the Ft. Wayne Freedom (4-11) by a score of 52 - 13 last Saturday at the "Slaughter House." That victory ensured the Beef's home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs and the number four seed. Now, Head Coach Robert Fuller will welcome in the Evansville BlueCats (7-8) to the Omaha Civic for the second time this season. The BlueCats are the fifth seed after a loss to the Sioux Falls Storm (15-0) last weekend. This is the third time that the two teams have met this year and the series is split 1-1 as the Beef won the first match at home by a score of 75-34 and lost in Evansville 17-28.

Omaha has been on a roller coaster all season long by not winning or losing more than two games in a row. The Beef offense found some new life through quarterback Andy Majors. Majors did not receive the starting position until after he sparked a fourth quarter comeback against the Sioux Falls Storm during Week 11. He was brought in during the final five minutes of the game and managed to rush for two touchdowns and a two-point conversion to just come up short by a score of 38-40. This was the closest any team came to beating the Storm this season.

Making a big name for himself this season was the UIF's leading rusher in RJ Rollins. A rookie this season, he played more like a crafty veteran as he rushed for over 800-yards and had 17 rushing touchdowns. On the opposite side of the ball, Chris Eads (LB) also came out his shell. Eads spent the last two seasons as a back-up in Sioux Falls and took over as one of the leaders of the "Beefense." Eads finished as the fifth leading tackler in the UIF this season with an astounding 83.5 tackles.

This is the seventh year in a row that the Beef have made the playoffs and what's even more impressive is that it's the seventh time that they've hosted a playoff game! Congratulations to Head Coach Robert Fuller and all of his Beef team as they make their way towards a United Bowl II appearance and victory.
