Omaha, Nebraska - The Omaha Beef of the United Indoor Football Association is pleased to announce the signing of Wide Receivers Mike Nizzi, Allen Burrell, and Micah Arnold.
Nizzi, a 6'4 225 wide receiver returns to the Omaha Beef from the Columbus Destroyers of the Arena Football League. Nizzi had a strong rookie season with the Beef finishing with 34 receptions for 476 yards and 10 TD's in nine games. Mike will play a big role in the Beef offense in 2006.
Burrell, a 5'11 185 wide receiver caught on with the Omaha Beef late last season and will look to be an impact player for the Beef in 2006. Burrell was a two-sport standout at Division 1-AA North Dakota State University at Fargo. He was an All Great West selection as a wide receiver and kick returner and helped to lead the Bison to an eight and three record in their first season at the Division 1-AA level. The Aurora, Colorado native was also a standout for the North Dakota State University track team. During his college career, Burrell was seven-time All American sprinter recording a time of :10.44 in the 100-meter dash and a North Central Conference outdoor 200-meter dash record of :20.69.
Arnold, a 6'1 185 wide receiver played his college football at Northern State University as a defensive back, kick returner, and wide receiver. Arnold was an All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference selection at cornerback for Northern State and a 23 time All-NSIC selection in track. Arnold was named the NSIC conference track & field MVP as a junior and senior and was a runner up for the award as a freshman and sophomore. Arnold earned All American honors in the 60-meter hurdles.
"It is great to have Mike and Allen return to our team and we are excited about picking up Micah," stated Head Coach Robert Fuller. "Nizzi learned a lot about route running in Columbus and has been very impressive in camp. Allen and Micah bring a great deal of speed and athleticism to our offense."
The Omaha Beef invite you to the "Black on Black practice for charity" this weekend at the Omaha Sports Complex. The Beef are partnering up with the Iowa Blackhawks of the APFL to help raise money for the Open Door Mission of Omaha and Mohm's Place, in Council Bluffs. The event will begin at Noon on Saturday and tickets will be $5 at the door.
