AFL I Arena Football League (1987-2008)

May 24, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

By most accounts, the defending National Conference Champion Georgia Force backed into the 2006 playoffs. The Force dropped three of their last four games and narrowly secured the conference's sixth and final seed with an 8-8 record. But during Sunday's Wild Card victory over the No. 3-seeded New York Dragons, Georgia quarterback Matt Nagy performed like the savvy ArenaBowl vet that he is.

Nagy, the AFL's highest-rated passer during the regular season, completed 28 of his 39 attempts against New York for 362 yards and nine touchdowns in a 72-69 triumph. He also added a rushing touchdown. For his performance, Nagy has earned Beckett.com AFL Collectible Player of the Week honors.

During the 2006 regular season, Nagy completed 70.6 percent of his passes for 4,265 yards and 85 touchdowns. Up next, though, is undoubtedly Georgia's toughest challenge of the season -- a Divisional Playoff game on the road against the No. 1-seeded Dallas Desperados, who've already beaten Georgia once this season, 62-59, in Week 13.
