Atlanta Beat News Release

KENNESAW, GA (December 15, 2010 ) - Atlanta Beat General Manager Shawn McGee today announced the signing of free agent Kristina Larsen.

Larsen joins the Beat as a 2010 second round draft pick who went 17th overall to the Saint Louis Athletica. She suffered a stress fracture in preseason season before Athletica disbanded, and she looks forward to her first appearance in Women's Professional Soccer.

"After getting hurt in preseason and then the team folding, I never actually got a shot," said Larsen. "I am excited to come to Atlanta because I've heard great things about the team, the atmosphere and the coach."

Larsen was a star forward at UCLA from 2006-2009. After starting in 19 of her 22 appearances in 2006, she earned a spot on the PAC-10 All-freshman team. In 2008, she led all scores with 13 goals, including five game winners. She scored nine goals and tallied six assists in her senior season.

"Kristina is a go-getter," said McGee. "She was a great college player and is someone who is very well suited for WPS. We are excited to have her and look forward to more player signings and updates in the next few days."

Larsen has been a standout since her high school career where she was named to Soccer Buzz Magazine's list of the top 50 recruits nationwide and was a member of the U-17 United States Women's National Team. She was also a member of the U-20 player pool.

Larsen reports for preseason training on March 1, 2011.
