Atlanta Beat News Release

KENNESAW, GA (June 17, 2011) - The Atlanta Beat (1-7-2) of Women's Professional Soccer stay home this weekend to host the Boston Breakers (3-5-2) for the second time this season on Sunday, June 19 at 6:00 p.m.

In the Beat's most recent match on Saturday, June 11, they returned home after a three game road trip to face magicJack for the third time this season. The Beat fell 3-2 in a match that saw Beat goals from Meghan Lenczyk in the 20th minute and newcomer Kacey White in the 53rd. The visiting magicJack's Ella Masar, Christen Press and Johanna Rasmussen finished goals for the opposing side.

Despite the result, Atlanta Beat head coach James Galanis said in his midweek report that "we set out with the goal of generating chances, and we did that. We also played really good soccer for long periods of time. We possessed the ball really well and displayed that we are improving and getting closer to the product we are looking for."

He also noted that "Against magicJack, we played some of the best soccer we have played thus far."

As the Beat approach Sunday's match against the Breakers, they face their second meeting with the northern club after hosting them in the season opener on Saturday, April 9 at KSU Soccer Stadium. In that match, the Beat fell to a tough 4-1 loss with midfielder Carli Lloyd finishing a penalty for their only score.

Two Beat players will be reunited with their former teammates as Alli Lipsher and Analisa Marquez both played for the Boston Breakers in 2010. None of the current Breakers were members of the Beat last season.

With the fast approaching 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, both teams will be missing key members fulfilling their National Team Duties. The Beat will be short three players as Boston is without five. The Beat's Carli Lloyd and Heather Mitts will play with the U.S. Women's National Team while Kelly Parker takes the field with the Canadian National Team. Boston will play without Kelly O'Hara, Amy LePeilbet, Lauren Cheney, Stephanie Cox and Rachel Buehler who are all members of the USWNT.

Tickets Sunday's Atlanta Beat match against the Boston Breakers are still available for purchase by calling 678-298-4778 or by visiting www.TheAtlantaBeat.com. For Father's Day only, enjoy four cups of ice cream from Jimmy's Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt plus four seats in the Party Loge.

Sunday's match will be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel.
