BeachBoys Blank Honu, Continue Winning Ways

Kenichi Matsuoka shut the visiting North Shore squad out through six innings on five hits to help the Waikiki BeachBoys blank the Honu, 4-0, tonight at Waipahu's Hans L'Orange Park before 644 in attendance. Jared Lansford (6.26 ERA) earned his first save of the campaign, holding North Shore scoreless through the final three innings to preserve Matsuoka's first HWB victory.

Waikiki (14-14) won its fourth consecutive game, and relied on six different players that each notched one hit. Jeff Kindel, Matt Inouye and Jose Coronado each doubled for the BeachBoys.

Masahiro Nagata and Jeramy Laster each notched two hits for North Shore (19-8). Brett Sinkbeil (2-1, 1.13 ERA) took the loss despite only allowing one run on one hit through four innings.

Both squads return to Hans L'Orange Park tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. for the second of a three-game series.
