The Riot struck first at the 6:20 mark of the first quarter with a Radoncic goal to take a 2-0 lead. Marco Sullo assisted as he took a shot that hit the right boards, the ball deflected out in the box and Radoncic converged for the tally.

But Missouri responded with back-to-back goals in a 19-second span. At the 8:16 mark, Leo Gibson netted power play goal, capitalizing shortly after an Ante Cop tripping penalty, to tie the score at 2-2. Then at the 8:35 mark, Carlos Olives netted a two-pointer to push Missouri's lead to 4-2.

The Comets' Byron Alvarez, who had missed an earlier shootout opportunity after Cop's tripping penalty, notched his first goal at the 2:46 mark of the second quarter to push the Comets' lead to 6-2.

The Riot ended the Comets' 6-0 run with a goal from Miodrag "Miki" Djerisilo at the 3:06 mark of the second quarter to cut Missouri's lead to 6-4. Novi assisted on the restart opportunity, finding Djerisilo to the left of the goal. Djerisilo's strike was deflected by Comets goalkeeper Danny Waltman, but Waltman could not get enough of the ball to prevent it from crossing the line.

Chicago then tied the score at 6-6 with a Fred Degand goal at the 4:07 mark of the second quarter. Novi provided the assist from the right side, crossing the ball across the pitch to Degand, whose shot hit the upper right corner of the netting.

The Riot came out of halftime to take an 8-6 lead as Radoncic tallied his second goal at the 54-second mark of the third quarter. Radoncic's power play goal was assisted by Novi. But the Comets quickly responded at the 2:39 mark with Vahid Assadpour's unassisted goal to tie the score at 8-8.

Missouri recaptured the lead following Roberto Gallo's intentional handball in the box. Alvarez netted his second goal of the game with a penalty kick goal at the 5:34 mark of the third to take a 10-8 lead. Then, shortly after offsetting penalties expired by the Riot's Radoncic and the Comets' Brian Harris, Missouri's Geison Moura scored a two-pointer at the 8:26 mark for a 12-8 advantage.

But Chicago responded. Radoncic notched his third goal of the game at the 1:19 mark of the fourth quarter to cut Missouri's lead to 12-10, as Novi assisted for the fourth time. Then the Riot tied the score at 12-12 at the 6:15 mark of the fourth quarter with Will Kletzien's goal off of a Gallo assist.

Mesanovic gave the Riot a 14-12 lead with a goal at the 9:44 mark of the fourth quarter. Djerisilo redirected the ball in the middle of the box and Mesanovic converted.

The Riot then iced the game with Radoncic's fourth goal at the 14:47 mark of the fourth when Missouri had Assadpour as the sixth attacker.

Riot goalkeeper Cop made his fifth straight start in place of Jeff Richey, who was listed on Chicago's active roster Sunday night. Cop made nine saves. His counterpart, Waltman, had 10 saves.
