Philadelphia Force News Release

Allentown, PA- A solo home run by Mindy Cowles and Jamie Clark's two hit, two RBI performance sparked the Chicago Bandits as they hit their way to a 5-1 win over the Philadelphia Force (19-11).

The Bandits (17-13) quickly got on the board in the top of the second inning when Cowles slammed a solo home run to left center field. However, starting Force pitcher, Amy Harre, was able to work out of the inning by forcing the next three Chicago batters into outs.

Trena Peel answered back for the Force in the top of the third inning. A solo blast to center field put the Force on the scoreboard to tie the game at 1-1. It was Peel's fourth home run of the season.

The Bandits would add what would turn out to be the game winning run in the top of the fourth inning. Cowles would again start off the inning, this time with a walk. She quickly stole second before Laura Harms grounded out, advancing Cowles to third base. Lindsay Schutlzer, who entered the game to pinch hit for Aileen Morales, added the second run for the Bandits with a single up the middle that scored Cowles.

The Bandits continued their hot hitting performance in the fifth inning. Kristie Fox began the rally with a single down the left field line. Rachel Folden followed with a walk which would advance Fox to second base. Auriel Jenkins entered the game to pinch run for Fox before Clark's long double to center would score Folden and Jenkins, making the score 4-1.

The Bandits added one more run in the top of the sixth inning on a Morales RBI single that scored Cowles, who singled to lead off the inning. Cowles would end the night with two hits, three RBIs, and one run scored.

For the Bandits, Jessica Sallinger (8-5) picked up the win on the mound. Sallinger gave up three hits and struck out three batters in 4.2 innings pitched. Kristina Thorson picked up her second save of the season.

Amy Harre (3-3) took the loss for the Force. Harre gave up four hits and two runs in 3.2 innings pitched.

The Force and the Bandits will play the third game of the series tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. at ECTB Stadium. The home run derby style event, the "Battle of the Bats", will be held prior to the game at 6:20 p.m. Also, the first 300 fans at the park will receive a Majestic throwback NPF t-shirt.
