Buffalo Bandits News Release
Buffalo, N.Y. (February 3, 2005) â Buffalo Bandits General Manager Kurt Silcott announced today the team has signed Jon Harasym to a one-year contract. As is club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed. All transactions are subject to league approval.
"Jon is a very talented offensive player," stated Silcott. "He moves very well and plays good hard physical lacrosse. I expect him to fit in with this team right away. He was one of the top players selected in the 2002 draft, but has not been in ideal situations to utilize his talents throughout his career. I think you'll see him elevate his level of play as he becomes more comfortable with our team. We are confident that he will start to produce like a top draft pick before too long."
Selected by Columbus with the second-overall pick in the 2002 NLL Entry Draft, Harasym had his best statistical year with the Landsharks in his rookie season, scoring 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points, while logging 50 penalty minutes in 15 games. Following that season, Harasym was traded to Rochester along with Kyle Arbuckle in exchange for Cory Bomberry and a second-round selection in the 2004 NLL Entry Draft. He appeared in 13 games for the K-Hawks, scoring nine points (4G, 5A). The Edmonton, Alberta native appeared in two games this season for the expansion Minnesota Swam after being selected in the Expansion Draft on October 18th, 2004. In that span, he registered six points (3G, 3A) and was the second leading scorer on the team prior to his release.
Harasym has appeared in 30 career-games, recording 20 goals and 22 assists for 42 points, while recording 59 penalty minutes. He joins Delby Powless (1st Overall, 2004), AJ Shannon (6th Overall, 2003), Billy Dee Smith (3rd Overall, 2002) and Bryan Kazarian (7th Overall, 2001) as the only players on the Bandits roster to be selected in the first-round of the NLL Entry Draft.
The Bandits also placed defenseman Chris White on the Injured Reserve list. White fractured a bone in his hand during Buffalo's, 20-16, victory over Philadelphia on Saturday, January 29, 2005.
The Bandits next home game will be against the Anaheim Storm at the HSBC Arena on Friday, February 11, 2005 at 7:30 PM. Ticket packages are available by calling the Buffalo Bandits Ticket Office at 1-888-467-2273, or fans can purchase packages at the HSBC Arena Box Office or any Tickets.com locations.
