Bandits Defeat Force in Series Finale

Elgin, Illinois - Looking to end the series on a high note, the Force faced off against the Bandits for the final time this season at the JU Sports Complex. Despite their best efforts Chicago defeated the visiting Force by the final score of 9-4 Sunday afternoon

With Sunday's loss, the Force fell to 1-4 on the season, while the Bandits improved to 4-1 overall.

On the day, the Force combined for series best seven hits, but it was not enough as the red hot Bandits tacked on 12 hits to earn the win.

Pacing the Force's offense was DeAnn Justice who went 2-for-2 with three RBI's, and Audrey LaFountain who went 2-for-4.

For Chicago, Samantha Findlay was unstoppable at the plate going 3-for-4 with four RBI's and two runs scored. Behind her were Tammy Williams and Rachel Folden who each went 2-for-3 with two RBI's and two runs scored.

In the circle, Samantha Yodowitz earned her first start of the season for Philly. In 2 1/3 innings, Yodowitz surrendered four runs on six hits, and was handed the loss.

Picking up the win for Chicago was Kristina Thorson. In 5 1/3 innings Thorson fanned eight batters and allowed just two runs on four hits to earn her second win of the season.

Once the game was underway Chicago wasted little time getting on the scoreboard scoring the first run of the afternoon in the bottom half of the first inning. They then extended that lead in the third with three more runs to go up 4-0.

In the fourth, Chicago put up another run to take make it a five run ball game. The Force finally ended their scoring drought in the fifth with a pair of runs to make it 5-2. Unfortunately, the Bandits regained their four run lead in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single from Kristie Fox.

Philly would tack on just two more runs in the final two innings of play, while the Bandits put up three more runs in the sixth to secure their 9-4 win. Combined the Bandits outscored the Force 24-11 throughout the five game series.

The Force will return to ECTB Stadium this Friday when they face the North East All-Stars in an exhibition game at 7:05 p.m. EST.
