Austin Aztex News Release

AUSTIN, Texas (www.austinaztex.com) -- A stout Houston defense made a goal by the Dynamo's Geoff Cameron in the 84th minute stand up to give the visitors a 1-0 win over the Austin Aztex on Sunday at Nelson Field.

Austin went on the attack all game long, firing off seven shots and earning six corner kicks against Houston, but were unable to put a tally on the board to earn a second-straight tie against it's MLS foes.

The Aztex started the match on the offensive and kept the gas pedal on for much of the match with their first real opportunity coming in the 16th minute when Yordany Alvares placed a free kick just inches out of reach for Jay Needham to send it home. Later in the half, Sullivan Silva and and Eddie Johnson joined in the act, each booting shots on net, but Dynamo keeper Tally Hall was able to save them both from danger.

In the second half, the Aztex defense tightened up with goalkeeper Miguel Gallardo leading the charge. Gallardo ended the day with five hard-earned saves as Houston attempted to break the tie. In the 84th minute though, Cameron was able to break through the wall after a corner kick was earned by the visitors. Cameron corralled the ball in traffic and set himself up for a shot that blazed past Gallardo.

Despite the deficit, the Aztex came charging back, finishing the match with a flurry of action down by Hall's end of the pitch. Immediately after the Dynamo's strike, Michael Callahan fired a shot that sailed just wide left, followed by a shot from Alvares just to the right of the net.

Two minutes later, Callahan again had an opportunity to even the score, but his attempt was saved by Hall. In stoppage time, Johnson had a shot that was batted away for one last Aztex corner that was headed just over the net by Seon Power before the final whistle blew.
