Austin Bragg Signs with Slovenian Team

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -Bellingham Slam 6-foot-9 center Austin Bragg, who recently completed an impressive rookie season in the International Basketball League this summer, will be taking his game overseas for the first time after signing a contract to play in Slovenia.
Bragg will join the Helios Suns, a club which competes in Slovenia's first-division Telemach League.
Last week, Bragg arrived in Slovenia and participated in a tryout camp with several other prospective players as Helios makes its roster selections for the upcoming season.
Bragg played in instrumental role in helping the Slam capture their third straight IBL Championship in July. He exploded for 27 points and 12 rebounds in the 143-126 title game win over Vancouver and earned Most Valuable Player honors, becoming the first rookie to win the award in league history. On the season, Bragg averaged 14 points and 8 rebounds per contest as Bellingham finished with a 15-3 record.
Prior to joining the Slam, in March Bragg wrapped up an excellent two-year college career at Western Washington, leading the team in both scoring and rebounding as a senior with averages of 17 points and 9 rebounds per game. He became just the second player in school history to score a triple-double in a game with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists on February 1 versus Alaska-Anchorage.
In high school, Bragg was a standout athlete at Mark Morris and initially enrolled at Washington State, where he redshirted for one season before transferring to Clark College and eventually WWU.
Bragg's regular season with Helios tips off on October 11 and extends through April.
