ATLANTA (November 4, 2008)- Atlanta's newest sports franchise, a team in the Women's Professional Soccer league, is taking season ticket pledges for the team's inaugural 2010 season. Fans who want to guarantee their place in the stands and learn about season ticket pledges should visit www.atlantawomensprosoccer.com.
Season tickets are expected to range between $160 and $675.
The Atlanta Women's Professional Soccer team owner, Fitz Johnson, today announced he will gauge community support for the team with a season ticket pledge drive that will run through July 1, 2009.
"There has been great support for women's soccer in Atlanta in the past, and I want to show the league that we are committed to building a successful team," said Johnson. "We want to identify our supporters before the team arrives, make sure soccer fans know what is happening and let them be a part of this team from the very beginning."
The Women's Pro Soccer league will begin play in 2009 with teams from Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, St. Louis, the Bay area and Washington, D.C. In addition to Atlanta, teams in Philadelphia and Dallas will be added in 2010. Team rosters will include members of the 2008 gold medal U.S. Olympic team and other national stars.
Johnson is undecided about where the team will play its home games. Options include former Atlanta Beat home field, Herndon Stadium, and other existing stadiums throughout the metro-Atlanta area. Building a new venue is also under consideration.
