Atlanta Beat News Release
Kennesaw, GA (Jan. 1, 2010) - Atlanta Beat General Manager Shawn McGee announced Japanese international Mami Yamaguchi as the second foreign player signed to the expansion team's roster.
Yamaguchi was the Beat's third selection in the 2009 WPS International Draft for Expansion Teams and will join former Ume=E5 IK teammate Ramona Bachmann for Atlanta's 2010 inaugural season. "Mami is a very technical and versatile player," said Atlanta Beat Head Coach Gareth O'Sullivan. "She is extremely clever in possession and will bring great experience to the team. We expect her to have an immediate impact in the WPS." Yamaguchi won Swedish Championship gold with Ume=E5 in 2008 and has experience playing in the UEFA Women's Champions League. She starred at Florida State University where she became the 2007 NCAA MAC Herman Trophy and has experience with the Japanese Women's National Team.
Yamaguchi will report to Atlanta for preseason in early Spring of 2010.
