Atlanta Beat Prepares For International Draft
ATLANTA, GA - Atlanta Beat General Manager Shawn McGee announced today, Sept. 21, that the Atlanta Women's Professional Soccer team may acquire up to five international players in the International Draft Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The Beat selected its first six players in last week's WPS Expansion Draft and will have the chance, along with fellow expansion team, Philadelphia Independence, to draft a maximum of five international players from across the globe.
"I have traveled all over to get one final look at some of the best players in the world," said Head Coach Gareth O'Sullivan. "After seeing them in person, I am confident that we will pick up some key personalities to add to our roster."
"The International Draft is a great opportunity for us to gain some world class athletes," said McGee. "Gareth has studied the players extensively, and we believe that we are building a strong core."
The Beat will complete its roster with local area open tryouts and the 2010 WPS Draft in January.
