April 19, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Question from Leonard C in Chicago (and others): "Will ABA games be on TV next season?"
Answer: Leonard (and others). There is nothing we would like more than to have the ABA on TV. We are talking with television networks, cable channels, and various webcasting companies about getting our games on the air. The popularity of the ABA style of play with its faster pace, higher scoring, full-court game is growing. Anyone who attends an ABA game knows that it captures the best of college, international and the NBA with very highly skilled players who play as a team rather than individually. When the 3-D lights go on, the fans go wild. The fast breaks are amazing, the back court defense exciting, the 3-point shooting incredible. It is just fun to watch. We will have nearly 1000 games this season, millions will have a chance to see the ABA in person. But we do want to have our games on TV and the web and are devoting much time and energy this spring and summer to make that happen. Keep your eye on the ABA website for details. If you have a questions, email joenewman@abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
