March 31, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Question from Mary P, Chicago: "What are you going to be discussing at your league meeting and what changes are you planning to make next season?"

Answer: Mary. Thanks for the question. Interesting. First, it is going to be a great meeting. We have nearly 60 teams that have RSVP'd plus many of our partners. We expect over 100 people to attend. Obviously, we will review the past season and look at ways that we can make the league better. There were some problems this past season, some of them due to the rapid expansion of the league, some of them due to internal distractions. But, overall we played over 500 games, employed over 500 players, 100 coaches and 300 referees, we impacted a tremendous number of community organizations, we gave hundreds of thousands of fans a chance to see exciting ABA basketball at affordable prices and we crowned a great new champion, the Vermont Frost Heaves.

The theme of the meeting is Keys to Success and we will be seeking input from our owners on how we can be even better next season. We'll be discussing new divisional lineups, new standards and requirements, new scheduling, plus presenting a variety of new revenue streams for our teams. We have one-on-one sessions set up for Thursday, Apr 12 and a full meeting on Fri, Apr 13 plus a big dinner planned. It will be a great two days. Hope this answers your question. If you have a question, email joenewman@abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
