May 18, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Question from Marilyn, Rochester NY: "With so many teams, how are you going to do the divisions next season? Will there be big changes in who we (Rochester) play?"

Answer: Marilyn. Thanks for the question. We definitely will be making some changes to divisions next season including adding a couple of divisions. With over 60 teams set to begin in November, it is our thought to create seven-team divisions with each team playing an opponent in the division six times (3 home, three away). The exception would be when we would bring in a team from another division for a special reason - like bringing in the Beijing team or the Mongolian team or one of the Mexican teams (though this has not yet been determined). It is likely that there will be a couple of different opponents next season for the RazorSharks though you will definitely still be playing Buffalo. We are working on the divisions now. Our goal is always to create great regional rivalries and keep travel to a minimum and on the ground. Hope this answers your questions. If you have a question, email joenewman@abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
