Ask the CEO
February 8, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Question from Dave S., Philadelphia (edited): Why don't you have a team in the Philadelphia market? We seem to be the biggest market you don't operate in. We all love the Sixers but unfortunately they've priced themselves out of what many of us can afford. Please bring us good quality hoops that we can afford to see."
Answer: Dave. Thanks for the question and comments. Like you, we believe that Philadelphia is a great market and fits beautifully into our divisional set up with teams in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and New York. We've had a couple of attempts there, but poor management/ownership, not Philadelphia, contributed to their demise. We are confident that if run properly, Philadelphia could be a fabulous market for ABA basketball for the reasons you've given. I am talking with a couple of groups - and hopefully they can put something together so that we can bring fan-friendly, exciting professional basketball and entertainment at affordable prices to Philadelphia. Good luck to you. If you have a question, email joenewman@abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
